Bio:
Jase Varlie
Although not born in Imperial space, Jase Varlie is an Imperial
citizen. His parents, Dran and Traice Varlie, worked for the Imperial
Interstellar Scout Service mainly assigned to long range scouting
missions (some in the scout service say this was to keep them out of
Imperial space). Jase is the second youngest of seven brothers and
sisters and like many of his siblings has spent most of his life in jump
space.
Growing up on a scout vessel, Jase came in contact with a wide range of
races and cultures. The majority of outside contact came from other
space-farers within various systems. As a boy, he was rather small,
somewhat plain looking, and extremely curious. This does not make for a
good combination when a good portion of his youth was spent in some of
the seedier areas of numerous spaceports. He quickly discovered that a
small, nondescript kid could make a good amount of spending money doing
odd jobs and have a small adventure while doing it.
Jase also showed a large interest and an almost innate knowledge of how
things worked and how certain equipment could work better (or different)
if combined with other equipment. A good portion of his time in
jump-space was spent taking things apart and putting them back together
in as many different ways as possible to see how functional the result
was. Dran was hard pressed at times to keep the main electrical and
mechanical components of the ship from becoming part of these
experiments. Jase surprised both his parents when at age ten, he
successfully fine tuned the engine of their ship and gained almost
twenty percent improvement in its running. Although he was restricted
to his room for the remainder of their stay on that planet, they did
begin his official training of engineering.
When he was old enough, Jase followed his parent’s (and the majority
if
his sibling’s) example and joined the scout service. Now after several
years of scout service, he is attempting to follow his brother Krel into
the service of Starchaser.
