The I.M.V. Lucky Credit was designed by Ashley
Minkhaus, a freelance starship architech.
Her original name: Silent Wave
She was built at the: Patinir Freeport Shipyards of Blackmoor Heavy
Industries.
On date: 1093-114
She was ordered by Frakin Ushuug, a corporate junior
executive who wanted a ship to use for transporting the entertainment
musical band: Sonic Illness.
The vessel was purchased by proceeds from the band's latest release,
"Fire-Water-Love: A Hydro-Dissonance Experiment", and used
for two performance tours in both Core and the Spinward Marches.
Vessel Class and Designer Notes
Ashley Minkhaus was the original architect that designed the first
Acipiter Class ship, the "Goshawk", as a complete custom order
for a man named David Phoenecius. This was a keel-up custom
designed yacht. A year later, the design was bought out completely
from the architect for production by Phoenecius' newly formed Blackmoor
Heavy Industries company in the Patinir belt in the Aramis subsector.
Minkhaus was later employed by BHI, and remains in their service as head
architect. The Acipiter class went into limited production at the
BHI yards, with the primary clients being the local wealthy elite of the
Aramis, Regina, and Rhylanor subsectors of the Spinward Marches, and
even as far as the edges of the Deneb Sector. After 90% of the
initial deliveries were made, BHI started creating multiple classes of
ships using the same hull outline as the Acipiter, with varying
attributes. The Lucky Credit is a Khanushu Class vessel.
KNOWN variants produced to date include the following:
1.Acipiter Class - Technically classified as an armored merchant, in
reality the ship tends to serve as an adventurer's yacht by their
owners. Main selling points are; very high armor values, with all
major compartments being armored to compartmentalize internal damage;
extensive sensor suite and very powerful computers; extensive stealth
modifications of engines and ship's components making her very hard to
"see"; two LARGE & powerful custom laser turrets; high AV
rated sandcaster; 3 decoy drones; 6.5G loaded acceleration; and Jump3.
Without highly speculative cargo, the ship cannot turn a profit.
2.Khanushu Class - Classified as a gunned merchant, it drops the power
of the lasers, but adds two more turrets making a total of four laser
turrets. It also adds 3 more sandcasters, making it very effective
in screening laser fire. While not as armored, and much slower at
2.4G loaded and Jump2, the ship will positively return good profit for a
merchant without having to branch heavily into speculative cargo.
Noble customers were not amused when the Khanushu was released as their
hull outlines were no longer unique to a luxury class. Some
clients have come to realise that this is actually a blessing in
disguise.
3.Kukimma Class - Classified as a hardened yacht, the Kukimma Class of
the Acipiter Family is even more formidable than the Acipiter Class,
boasting TWICE as much armor as the original Acipiter, and many other
small improvements. Since it is classified as a yacht, the
accommodations are outstanding and often extravagantly tailored for the
individual purchaser, but this coupled with the armor cause cargo space
to suffer.
4.Darasha Class - Little is known about the Darasha by the outside
public. However, unconfirmed reports by several independent sensor
technicians have placed the Darasha at over 7G's during high speed
in-system runs. The sensor logs from each of these reports have
mysteriously disappeared shortly after the claims were made. BHI
executives have maintained a strict "No Comment" regarding
anything to do with the Darasha. Even the name of the class was
unknown until it was leaked from a secretive source just recently.
Other capabilities of the ship are unknown at this time, but rumors
persist that BHI is useing some or all components at TL16 or more.
The more conspiracy minded e-zines are often putting the TL at the 17 or
18 mark.
With BHI's past secrecy regarding ship and component's design, it is
more than likely that other discreet classes exist, in addition to the
normal modification variants that tend to appear with any given ship
design.
