Identifying Marks: Yarra bears four faint parallel scars on her left shoulder blade (received from a wild pomrafi when she was 11 years old). She also has a mole on her inner right thigh.

Yarra -(n.) a small flower indigenous to an icy planet located in the outer rim of the Deneb Sector. The plant has five white petals surrounding a blue center and possesses a pleasant scent; however, when brewed and taken as a tea the root of the Yarra flower is known to have a soporific effect.

Yarra Z'chai is the only daughter of Jerr and Megret Z'Chai, both members of the Imperial Interstellar Scout Service. Born and raised on a scout ship, Yarra has spent her entire life in space and around scouts. She has IISS friends all over the Deneb Sector and in many ways she feels that the Scout Service is her family. Due to the cloistered environment in which she was raised (surrounded by her loving parents and their protective friends) Yarra is unusually confident and secure. Others may perceive her as bold but in fact she doesn't possess the normal inhibitions and insecurities that afflict many others. Yarra's high

intelligence was apparent when she began speaking in full sentences at 9 months of age and her parents have encouraged her studies. She absorbed all the knowledge and training they had to offer by the time she was 11 years old and then began to self-train herself in the study of medicine. Yarra is fascinated with the study of medicine and has been receiving medical journals for the past 14 years.

It was natural that upon attaining adulthood that Yarra would herself join the IISS. She already possessed the regular skills required to become a scout and the ISS basic training only verified her already fine piloting and astrogation skills. At the IISS training center on Regina/Regina she became accredited as a MedTech, in addition to qualifying as an Astrogator and Pilot. In her first several assignments she willingly pitched in whenever possible and picked up useful skills in Mechanics and Gunnery. Recently Yarra has chosen to take a leave of absence from the ISS. She felt that she should see what other adventure was to be had in the galaxy. Though Yarra loves the ISS she started to feel that she would never be viewed as an adult as long as she remained in the service. It is sometimes frustrating to be viewed as everyone's kid sister. Upon hearing of Starchaser it seemed a perfect opportunity to use her skills and stretch her wings.
